আমি আবার কাউকে না বলতে পারি না বাপু।
I will help you.
আমি তোমায় সাহায্য করব।
[The Swallow removes the
ruby from the hilt with its mouth.
[সোয়ালো ঠোঁট দিয়ে বাঁট থেকে চুনিটা খুলে নিল।
He makes a motion of flying
with its arms.
সে তার হাত দুটো দিয়ে ওড়ার ভঙ্গি করল।
He goes up to the cottage,
removes the curtain.
সে কুটির পর্যন্ত গিয়ে, পর্দাটা
সরিয়ে দিল।
Inside the cottage, mother
is tired and has fallen asleep.
কুটিরের ভেতর ক্লান্ত অবসন্ন মা ঘুমিয়ে পড়েছে।
Her son is tossing in fever.
তার ছেলে জ্বরে ছটফট করছে।
The Swallow puts the ruby
down near her hand.
সোয়ালো মহিলার হাতের কাছে চুনিটা রাখল।
Then he comes out and draws
the curtain.
তারপর বেরিয়ে এসে সে পর্দাটা টেনে দিল।
He flaps his arms in flight
and returns to the Happy Prince]
সে দু-হাত নেড়ে ডানা ঝাপটানোর ভঙ্গিমায় সুখী রাজপুত্রের কাছে ফিরে এল।]
Swallow: It's a cold night.
সোয়ালো: শীতের রাত।
But strange, I am feeling
warm.
কিন্তু ভারী অদ্ভুত ব্যাপার, আমার গরম লাগছে।
Statue: That happens when
you do something good to help someone.
মূর্তি: এটা কেবল তখনই হয় যখন তুমি কাউকে সাহায্যের জন্য ভালো কিছু কর।
[Stage light changes to
yellow]
[মঞ্চের আলো পালটে গিয়ে হলুদ হল।]
Swallow: I will leave for
Egypt tonight.

I will stay with you through
the day.

Statue: Swallow, Swallow,
little Swallow, please stay with me for one more night.

Swallow: But all my friends
are waiting for me.

Tomorrow they are going to
fly up River Nile to Luxor.
আগামীকাল তারা নীল নদীর উপর দিয়ে লাক্সর-এর দিকে উড়ে যাবে।
Statue: Far away in a little
attic, I see a brown-haired young man.
মূর্তি: অনেক দূরে একটা ছোট্ট চিলেকোঠায় বাদামি চুলের এক যুবককে দেখতে পাচ্ছি।
He is unhappy and poor.
সে অসুখী এবং গরিব।
He is writing a play for the
theatre.
মঞ্চে অভিনয়ের জন্য সে একটা নাটক লিখছে।
Little Swallow, take one of
my sapphire eyes and give it to him.
ছোট্ট সোনা সোয়ালো, আমার
নীলকান্তমণি চোখ দুটোর একটা নিয়ে গিয়ে তাকে দাও।
Swallow: Dear Prince, I
can't do that!
সোয়ালো: প্রিয় রাজকুমার, একাজ আমার দ্বারা হবে না।
Statue: Swallow, little
Swallow, you must.
মূর্তি: সোয়ালো, আমার
ছোট্টা সোনা সোয়ালো, একাজ
তোমায় করতেই হবে।
[The Swallow takes a
sapphire from one of the prince's blue eyes and makes the motion of flying,
goes to the cardboard cottage.
[সোয়ালো রাজপুত্রের নীল চোখ থেকে একটা নীলকান্তমণি তুলে নেয়
আর ওড়ার ভঙ্গি করে, কার্ডবোর্ডে
তৈরি কুটিরের কাছে পৌঁছায়।
The Swallow removes the
curtain.
সোয়ালো পর্দা সরায়।
The stage light changes to
blue.
মঞ্চের আলো নীল হয়ে যায়।
The playwright is revealed.
নাট্যকারকে দেখা যায়।
He sits holding his head in
his hands.
দু-হাতে মাথা ভর দিয়ে সে বসে আছে।
There is pen and paper by
his side.
পাশে কাগজ কলম পড়ে রয়েছে।
The Swallow quietly leaves
the sapphire beside the young playwright.
সোয়ালো চুপিসারে নীলকান্তমণিটা যুবক নাট্যকারের পাশে রেখে দিল।
The young playwright
discovers the rich stone soon after the Swallow leaves.
সোয়ালো চলে আসার পরমুহূর্তেই তরুণ নাট্যকার দামি পাথরটা দেখতে পায়।
He is overjoyed.]
সে উল্লসিত হল।]
Playwright: Someone likes my
work a lot!
নাট্যকার: আমার নাটক নিশ্চয়ই কারুর খুব ভালো লাগে।
Now I can finish my play.
এবার তাহলে আমি আমার নাটকটা লেখা সম্পূর্ণ করতে পারব।
[The Swallow returns to the Happy Prince.
[সোয়ালো সুখী রাজপুত্রের কাছে ফিরে আসে।
He is resting on the
pedestal-shaped box on which stands the Happy Prince.
বেদি-আকৃতির যে বাক্সের উপর সুখী রাজপুত্র দাঁড়িয়ে আছে সেটার উপর বসে সোয়ালো
বিশ্রাম নিচ্ছে।
The cottage curtain has been
pulled by the young playwright without being visible to the audience.
দর্শকরা যাতে দেখতে না পায় তেমন করে যুবা নাট্যকার কুটিরের পর্দাটি টেনে দেয়।
He left through the cottage
back-door and the right wing exit.]
কুটিরের পিছনের দরজা আর মঞ্চের ডান দিকের প্রস্থান পথ দিয়ে সে বেরিয়ে যায়।]
Swallow I'm here to say
goodbye.
সোয়ালো: তোমায় বিদায় জানাতে এলাম।
[The stage light changes to
yellow]
[মঞ্চের আলো বদলে গিয়ে হলুদ হয়।]
Statue : I see a poor little
girl in the town square.
মূর্তি: শহরের চক এলাকায় আমি এক গরিব মেয়েকে দেখতে পাচ্ছি।
She has no shoes.
তার পায়ে কোনো জুতো নেই।
Little swallow, please give
her the sapphire remaining in my other eye.
ছোট্ট সোনা সোয়ালো, আমার
অন্য চোখের অবশিষ্ট নীলকান্তমণিটা তাকে দিয়ে এসো।
Swallow Impossible!
সোয়ালো: অসম্ভব।
I can't make you blind.
আমি তোমায় অন্ধ করে দিতে পারব না।

something good to help the poor mother and her ailing son. So he felt warm.

(c) What made the playwright
